1. India to vote in 9 phases to elect its next government.
- The polling for general election 2014 will take place on April 9,
10, 12, 17, 24 and 30 as well as on 7 and 12 May.
- Andhra Pradesh, Odisha and Sikkim will simultaneously go for
assembly elections.
- Counting will start on May 16.
2. Indian acid attack survivor 'Laxmi' has been honoured with
International Women of Courage Award by Michelle Obama for campaign
against acid attacks on women in India.
- She was permanently defaced in an acid attack at the young age of 16 in Delhi.
3. Assam becomes the first Indian state to celebrate Child Protection
Day on March 4.
- November 20 is observed globally as Universal Children's Day every year.
4. Luca Maestri is to succeed Peter Oppenheimer as the Chief Financial
Officer of Apple Inc in October this year.
- Peter Oppenheimer, senior vice president and CFO of Apple, has been
associated with the company since 1996.
5. The world observes the World Dentist Day on March 6
- The day is celebrated annually to spread awareness about dental health.
6. R.Neelakantan has been appointed as Chief Financial Officer of
low-cost airline SpiceJet.
