1. India finish at 5th place with
a haul of 5 medals at the
Archery World Cup (stage 4)
held at Wroclaw (Poland); US
topped the tally followed by
South Korea, Mexico and
Russia.
The medals:
- India's women's recurve
team clinches gold medal at the
Archery World Cup (stage 4)
being held at Wroclaw
(Poland).
- The troika of Deepika,
Bombayla Devi and Laxmirani
Majhi routed Mexico 6-0 in final
to bag the yellow metal.
- Deepika also won a bronze
each in recurve women's
individual event and recurve
mixed team pair event with her
partner Jayanta Talukdar.
- Men's recurve team had to
settle for silver after losing to
Mexico in the final.
- The compound mixed pair of
Abhishek Verma and Puvasha
Shende bagged a silver medal.
2. Jammu and Kashmir gets
two new hydel power projects
in Leh and Kargil respectively.
- These are the 44 MW Chutak
hydroelectric project in Kargil
district and the 45 MW Nimoo
Bazgo project in Leh district.
- The foundation stone for the
first power transmission line
from Leh to Kargil and Kargil to
Srinagar is also to be laid by
the PM Narendra Modi.
- The Nimoo-Bazgo Hydro
electric Project is a Run of the
River scheme to harness the
potential of river Indus.
- The Transmission system will
connect Leh/ Kargil area in
Ladakh with Northern Region
Grid at 220kV level for meeting
acute power demands of the
Ladakh region.
3. Iraqi president Fuad Masum
appoints 'Haider al-Abadi' as
the new Prime Minister
replacing the incumbent Nouri
al-Maliki.
- Its the result of recent
political fall-out between the
president and the Maliki.
- Maliki will stay as the
caretaker prime minister
unless Abadi form a new
government.
