1. Bengaluru FC becomes champion of I-League 2014 on its debut having
defeated Dempo Sports Club by 4-2.
- It is the country's topmost football competition for clubs.
2. MS Subbulakshmi Award 2014 goes to renowned Karnataka musician
'Mathangi Sathyamurthy'.
- She will receive a prize money of 10001 rupees and a plaque.
- The prestigious award was instituted by Varkala Sreekrishna
Natya Sangeeta Academy and the M S Subbulakshmi Foundation.
3. Tata Consultancy Services breaks into the top 10 global IT services
companies as per HfS Research Survey on competitive landscape for IT
Services in 2013.
- TCS, the largest IT services provider of India, was placed at 13th
spot last year (2012).
- IBM is the table topper followed by Fujitsu, Hewlett-Packard,
Accenture and NTT.
4. Donna Vekic (Croatia) crowned women's singles champion at the
Malaysian Open 2014 tennis tournament held at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
- She pips Dominika Cibulkova of Slovakia 5-7, 7-5 and 7-6 in the
final to clinch her maiden Women's Tennis Association (WTA) singles
title.
- Timea Babos (Hungary) and Chan Hao Ching (China) were crowned
women's doubles champions.
5. Indian-Americanprofessor Rajendra Singh is one among the ten
awardees of 'Solar Champions of Change' title given by the White
House.
- He gets the recognition for his contribution towards developing
alternate source of energy and promoting solar deployment across US.
6. Delhi-NCR ranks 21st in the global list of cities with the maximum
shopping centre space under construction in 2014, as per a report from
realty consultant CBRE.
- Indian cities of Hyderabad (23) and Bangalore (31) also featured in the list.
- Shanghai takes the pole position with Chengdu at 2nd and Shenzhen at 3rd.
7. Amit Boni has been appointed as General Manager of Motorola Mobility India.
8. Ircon International Limited, a Public Sector Undertaking under the
Ministry of Railways, signs an MoU with Transparency International
India.
- The MOU is aimed at maintaining complete transparency, integrity and
accountability in all its major contracts and procurement.
