1. German Captain Philipp Lahm hangs his boot on international

- The defensive midfielder featured in 113 international games for
Germany scoring 5 goals.
2. DRDO to launch a chilli spray named Capsispray.
- It has been developed by the DRDO's Tejpur laboratory known as
Defence Research Laboratory (DRL).
- It is an eco-friendly non-lethal chilli spray for personal
protection and self-defence.
- It contains Oleoresin Capsicum extracted from the world's hottest
chilli, the Bhut Jolokia (Capsicum Assamicum), largely cultivated in
Assam and other parts of North Eastern states of India.
- The product will be launched in the market after the mandatory
testing for several toxicology parameters.
3. Centre has appointed B Sriram and VG Kannan as the Managing
Directors of the State Bank of India.
- B Sriram, earlier the Managing Director of the State Bank of Bikaner
& Jaipur, will head International Banking
- VG Kannan will be in charge of Associates and Subsidiaries wing of
the nation's largest bank.
He was MD and CEO of SBI Capital Markets.
- They replaces Hemant Contractor and S Vishvanathan as such respectively.
4. Sunil Gavaskar absolved from his duty as the BCCI interim President
by Supreme Court.
- He can seek remuneration from the BCCI for the job done by him as such.
- Supreme Court earlier had appointed him as the interim president to
conduct season 7 of IPL following the embargo on regular president 'N
Srinivasan' due to match-fixing scandal.
- BCCI vice-president (South Zone) Shivlal Yadav will continue to be
the interim president for all administrative purposes.

6. National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) is an independent
body authorized to fix the retail price of drugs under DPCO, 2013.
- These medicines are specified in the National List of Essential
Medicines, 2011 - numbering, at present, at 348 drugs covering 680
formulations.
