1. Another Malaysian Air Tragedy: Malaysian aircraft MH17 blown to
bits over Eastern Ukraine in a missile attack killing all 295 aboard.
- The Boeing 777 was en route to Kuala Lumpur from Amsterdam.
Warring Ukraine and the pro-Russian rebels have traded accusation on
this civilian tragedy.
2. Renowned Malayalam filmmaker J Sasikumar breathes his last at 86.
- He holds three world records: the records for most number of films
(141), most number of films having the same actor as hero (Prem Nazir
in 84 films) and the most number of films directed in a year (15 films
in 1977).
- He was honoured with the Kerala State government's JC Daniel award
for lifetime achievement in cinema for the year 2012.
3. Russia to play host to BRICS Summit 2015 at Ufa.
Ufa is the capital of the Republic of Bashkortostan in Russia.
4. India to host the IBSA summit 2015 in New Delhi.
IBSA is a grouping of three non-permanent UNSC members of BRICS namely
India, Brazil and South Africa.
5. Polaris Financial Technology Limited clinches the 'Best
Implementation of Green IT Award' at the National IT Leadership and
Excellence award.
- It has been recognized for its consistent efforts on direct power
reduction and for reducing carbon emission amounting to over 3,517
tonnes, equal to planting 17,585 trees per year
