honoured with GK Reddy
Memorial Award 2014 for his
contribution in the field of
Journalism.
- He, presently an editorial
Chairman of Outlook group, has
launched publications like 'The
Sunday Observer', 'The
Independent' and 'The Pioneer'.
- He also have penned the
biographies of actress Meena
Kumari and Congress leader
Sanjay Gandhi.
2. Global Competitiveness Report
2014-15: India slips 11 places to
71st rank
- Switzerland is the most
competitive economy, followed by
Singapore and United States.
- BRICS: China (28), Russia (53),
South Africa (56), Brazil (57) and
at bottom is India with 71st rank.
3. Lt Colonel Sudhakar Jayant lifts
gold medal in the 62kg weight
category at the IWF World Masters
Weightlifting Championships held
in Copenhagen, Denmark.
- Its his 3rd successive gold medal
at the event after the ones in
Ukraine (2012) and Italy (2013).
4. International Literacy Day 2014
celebrated across the globe on
September 8.
- The theme of the annual day for
this year (2014) is "Literacy and
Sustainable Development".
