1. India and Israel successfully
test jointly developed Long Range
Surface to Air Missile (LRSAM)
system against a flying target.
- The deterrent system, to be used
by both nations, is jointly
developed by DRDO and IAI Israel.
2. Renowned Hindi poet Dr
Kedarnath Singh is honoured
with the Jnanpith Award 2013 for
his outstanding contribution
towards Indian literature.
3. Pensioners can now digitally
log in to give life certificates; no
longer required to show up in
person.
4. GS Sandhu has been appointed
as the Chairman of the National
Authority for Chemical Weapons
Convention.
- He was earlier serving as the
financial services secretary in the
Union Finance Ministry before
being replaced by Hasmukh Adhia
as such.
