- Bhuvneshwar Kumar gets the
Polly Umrigar Award for the
2013-14 season.
- The award is given to India's
best international cricketer of the
year.
2. Eminent classical vocalist Pandit
Jasraj is honoured with the
Sumitra Charat Ram Award 2014
for Lifetime Achievement.
- The award, named after Sumitra
Charat Ram - founder of the
Shriram Bharatiya Kala Kendra in
1952 - was instituted in 2011 to
honour outstanding
contributions in the field of art.
- The previous awardees are
Pandit Birju Maharaj, Kishori
Amonkar and Mayadhar Raut.
3. India inks five agreements with
Australia on combating narcotics
trade and trafficking, transfer of
sentenced prisoners, social
security, tourism, and Arts and
Culture.
- The two nations also plan to
have a Free Trade deal by the end
of 2015.
4. Sutirtha Bhattacharya is to be
the next Chairman and Managing
Director (CMD) of the Coal India
Limited.
- The post was lying vacant since
the resignation of the previous
CMD 'S Narsing Rao' in May, 2014.

selected for the Lifetime
Achievement Award at the 45th
edition of IFFI (International Film
Festival of India).
- He is globally renowned as an
auteur for his visually unique,
highly stylized, emotionally
resonant work.
- Some of his notable films are: In
the Mood for Love, Days of Being
Wild, Ashes of Time etc.
