Hughes is fighting for life after
being stuck by a bouncer.
- He was hit on the head by a
bouncer bowled by Sean Abbott
during a Sheffield Shield match
between South Australia and NSW
at the SCG.
- He is in a state of induced coma
and is currently undergoing
surgery.
2. CK Prasad is likely to replace
Justice Markenday Katju as the
Chairman of the Press Council of

3. Guru Ghasidas National Park in
Chhattisgarh is to be declared as
Tiger Reserve.
- It will be known as Guru
Ghasidas-Tamor Pingla tiger
reserve.
- The park lies between two
important tiger reserves-
Bandhavgarh (Madhya Pradesh)
and Palamau (Jharkhand) and is
also contiguous with the Sanjay-
Dubri tiger reserve (Madhya
Pradesh).
4. Pakistani author Bilal Tanweer
is honoured with the 2014 Shakti
Bhatt First Book Prize for his
novel 'The Scatter Here Is Too
Great'.
- The award is comprised of the
prize money of 2 lakhs rupees in

5. Government may ban sales of
loose cigarette to curb smoking.
- The expert panel constituted by
Ministry of Health & Family Welfare
has recommended several other
measures as well like...
- Increasing the minimum legal
age for sale of tobacco products.
- More penalty for violation of
certain provisions of the
Cigarettes and Other Tobacco
Products Act, 2003 (COTPA).
- The above act prohibits
advertisement and regulates
trade and commerce, production,
supply and distribution of such
materials.
- It also proposes to make such
offenses cognizable.
6. Centre launches the 'Swachh
Bharat Kosh' to build toilets in
schools of rural and urban areas.
- The scheme is a step towards
achieving cleanliness across the
country.
- To attract donations, PM himself
will acknowledge contributions of
over Rs 1 crore given by
