of the Year 2014.

2).China is expected to build 8,500 km of subway systems by 2020,
giving it the world's longest metro rail network.

3).A 1962 Nobel Prize medal won by biologist James Watson for the
discovery of the structure of DNA has fetched more than USD 4.7
million, setting a world record for any Nobel Prize sold at auction.

4).Indian Air Force (IAF) pressed the services of its IL-76 aircrafts
and the C-17 Globemaster to provide drinking water to the people of
Maldives

5).The RBI provided a breather to WLA operators by allowing them to
accept international credit/debit/prepaid cards

6).The Centre has amended rules in Indian Medical Council Regulations
2002, directing physicians to prescribe drugs with generic names in
legible and capital letters.

7).India's largest lender State Bank of India (SBI) today cut its
deposit rates for maturities of over one year by 0.25 per cent, making
it the third bank after private sector rivals, ICICI Bank and HDFC
Bank, to reduce deposit rates this week.
