1. Republic Day Parade 2015

Jharkhand and Karnataka
finishing 2nd and 3rd.
Brigade of 'Guards Regiment' &
'Sikh Regiment' adjudged joint
winners of Marching Contingent.
In the category of Para-Military
Forces and other auxiliary
marching contingents, Central
Industrial Security Force (CISF)
contingent has been adjudged
the best contingent.
2. Eminent singer 'Shekhar Sen'
becomes the new Chairman of
Sangeet Natak Akademi.
He gets a term of 5 years.
The multifaceted personality has
also been an actor, theatre
director, composer and lyricist.
3. 18th National Conference on e-
Governance begins at
Gandhinagar with the theme
'Digital Governance-New Frontier'.
It aims to explore the benefits of
the use of ICT, integrated service
delivery and use of mobile
platform for expanding access
rapidly.
Focus sector of the year is 'Skill
Development and Employability'.
National e-Governance awards
2014-15 will also be presented
here in 12 different categories
concerning various aspects of e-
Governance.
The honour recognise some of
the best Government to
Government (G2G), Government to
Citizen (G2C), Government to
Business (G2B) initiatives taken by
various government departments
and also initiatives of public
sector units and Non-Government
Institutions.
The conference along with the
exhibition is a forum to showcase
best practices, innovative
technologies and ICT solutions.
4. Separate Gorkhaland leader
Subhash Ghisingh dies at 78.
As the founder of Gorkha National
Liberation Front (GNLF), he had
been fighting for the separate
state for ethnic Gorkha people -
living in Darjeeling district of West
Bengal - since 1980s.
5. India gets the hosting right for
the Twenty20 World Cup 2016.
The biennial event will take place
from March 11, 2016 to April 3,
2016.
6. Dr Hanumanthu Purushotham
takes charge as the Chairman and
Managing Director of National
Research Development
Corporation (NRDC).
7. Nation observes Anti Leprosy
Day (martyrdom day of Mahatma
Gandhi) 2015 today on January
30.
The celebration marks the special
love and compassion 'Mahatma
Gandhi' had for persons suffering
from leprosy.
